WHW Celebrates the Strength in Men

WHW Celebrates the Strength in Men

This month, WHW celebrates the men and fathers who have been champions for the prevention of gender-based violence and have supported Women Helping Women in our efforts. These efforts will happen in two innovative ways. We will be sending our Father’s Day cards to celebrate our champion men and to give people the opportunity to buy a bow tie designed by Dhani Jones’ BowTie Cause. These bow ties represent the bravery that the men who have supported WHW demonstrate every time they have conversations with others about violence prevention. They also represent the bravery of survivors – each and every day.

WHW is also going to be rolling out a new social marketing campaign designed to acknowledge vulnerability as a strength not a weakness. We understand that men who step out as advocates of violence prevention are vulnerable, and that vulnerability can be a big barrier in creating culture change when it is not recognized as the powerful tool that it is. We will be hosting a celebratory kickoff event where we will be going to the street to have men tell us about their real selves and to reveal their vulnerability. We will then be using these newly revealed strengths to challenge others to do the same thing through social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram. This summer is a time to revel in being our true selves and lifting up the vulnerability and strength in others. Stay tuned for more details on how to participate in this powerful new campaign!
