Bark Out Against Battering Pet Fest
The 2015 Bark Out Against Battering event will be held Saturday, October 17th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Washington Park. Not only is cruelty to animals frequently both an indicator and predictor of interpersonal, family, and community violence, but an alarming number of women report that threats to their companion and farm animals prevent them from leaving abusive relationships. Celebrate your furry companions while supporting this important cause with a pet costume contest and parade, pet vendors, doggy trick or treating, “Ruff Ruff Raffle,” pet portraits and more. This family-fun event serves a serious purpose: To raise awareness of domestic violence’s impact on our entire community, including our pets.
