Domestic Violence Awareness Month
All across the country, communities join together every October to honor survivors and remember victims of domestic violence. Women Helping Women is partnering with other agencies in Hamilton County to host events this October.
The 26th Annual “She Screams Without Sound” Candlelight Vigil is scheduled for Tuesday October 1st from 5:45pm to 8:00pm on the steps of the Hamilton County Courthouse, 1000 Main Street. This event honors women and children killed in the past year due to domestic violence.
The first annual Purple Light Walk will be held on Friday October 11th. It will begin at the National Undergroud Railroad Freedom Center and going through the up and coming Cincinnati Banks District. It will start with registration and a resource fair from 5:30-6:30pm. A brief program will begin at 6:30pm. The walk itself will start at 7pm and will loop about one mile around the Banks District.
Bark Out Against Battering is a fall festival highlighting the intersection between animal abuse and domestic violence. The event is on Saturday October 26th from 11am to 2pm in Washington Park which is located at 1230 Elm Street.
